Germany Cottbus
Cottbus, Almanya’nın doğusunda bir kenttir ve Brandenburg eyaletine bağlıdır. 164,28 km² yüzölçümüne sahiptir ve 31 Aralık 2010 tarihindeki nüfusu 102.091 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Belediye Başkanlığı Frank Szymanski tarafından yürütülmektedir.
Cottbus, ayrıca Kottbus olarak da yazılmaktadır. Doğu Almanya’da yer almaktadır ve Spree Nehri ile Almanya sınırına yakındır.
İlk olarak 1156 yılında adı geçen ve 13. yüzyılın başında kiralanmış olan Cottbus, 1445-55 yılları arasında Niederlausitz’de ve zamanında 1807-13 yılları arasında Saksonya’nın bir parçası olarak Brandenburg’un bir kölesi olmuştur.
14. ve 15. yüzyıla ait kiliseleri ve eski surların, özellikle de Spremberg Kulesi’nin kalıntılarına sahiptir. Bir demiryolu kavşağı ve sanayi merkezi olan Cottbus, tekstil, gıda ürünleri ve elektroteknik ekipman üretmektedir.
Aynı zamanda büyük kahverengi kömürle çalışan bir elektrik santrali de bulunmaktadır. Cottbus, Brandenburg Teknik Üniversitesi’nin kurulduğu yerdir (1991 kurulmuştur). 1908 yılında kurulan kentin popüler Staatstheater Cottbus, art nouveau bir binada yer almaktadır.
Cottbus, geniş belediye parklarına sahiptir ve yıllık ulusal bahçe şovuna ev sahipliği yapmaktadır.
Noel büyüsü burada harika geçmektedir. Spremberger Kulesi ve tarihi Eski Kent’ten şehir çeşmesine kadar Cottbus şehir merkezine gider. Eski Pazar’daki dev Noel ağacına denk gelirseniz harika olur!. Tüm bunların ortasında parlak büyük Noel piramidini mutlaka görmeniz gerekir.

Cottbus is a city in the east of Germany and belongs to the state of Brandenburg. It has an area of 164.28 km² and a population of 102,091 as of December 31, 2010. The mayor is Frank Szymanski.
Cottbus, also written as Kottbus, is located in East Germany and is near the Spree River and the border with Germany.
First mentioned in 1156 and leased in the early 13th century, Cottbus was part of Niederlausitz from 1445-55 and was a slave of Brandenburg, a part of Saxony, from 1807-13.
It has churches from the 14th and 15th centuries and the remains of old walls, especially the Spremberg Tower. Cottbus is a railway junction and industrial center that produces textiles, food products, and electrical equipment.
There is also a power plant that runs on large brown coal. Cottbus is the location where Brandenburg Technical University was founded in 1991. The popular Staatstheater Cottbus, founded in 1908, is located in an Art Nouveau building. Cottbus has extensive municipal parks and hosts the annual national garden show.
The Christmas magic is wonderful here. From the Spremberger Tower and the historic Old Town to the city fountain, you can go to the center of Cottbus. It would be great to see the huge Christmas tree in the Old Market! You must see the shiny big Christmas pyramid in the middle of all this.
The turning carousel has a magnificent view of the fun and festive city.
